Even with the rain hammering down outside as I type it's hard to deny that summer is here.
The Tour de France approaches Paris this weekend and the people of Fiveways have made the school holiday exodus to warmer climes. So what's been going on you ask? Well if you haven't seen me for a while you've probably missed the news that Naomi and I have had our first baby. There has been a huge amount of upheaval in our lives (for the good) and some of that has spilt out into the shop.
I think the chaos has levelled out a bit and the shop is back into a routine.
As of the 1st July I've taken on my first full time member of staff in the shape of Lewis. He's a familiar face in the cycling community and the local bike shops. He's been spannering for years and will bring another pair of skilled and knowledgable hands to the workshop. This has also meant that we can open the shop for another day so we will now be open Monday to Saturdays.
We've been keeping busy with a steady stream of repairs, with a sprinkling of custom bike and wheel builds. Some of which has made it onto our Instagram feed. We've also been building bikes for Dom at Mason Cycles, a project we've been helping with from the very beginning and we're really pleased it's gathering the momentum it has.
Last week we built Josh's bike for his attempt at the Transcontinental Race from Belgium to Istanbul. All of this whilst keeping half an eye on the Tour!
The last peice of news is that we're planning an event for the last weekend of September. Keep an eye on the social networks for more info!
